Today in History...

In World History... we learned about the French Revolution.

The Background of the French Revolution:

A) There were estates (classes of people)
1. Clergy - They do not pay taxes
2. Nobility - They don't pay taxes but they do hold a high place in government
3. Commoners - They pay taxes and majority of the population are commoners

B) The economy
1. There were frequent problems
2. Ther poor during this time were very poor
3. The government spends too much money with wars
4. The Queen spends a lot of money on herself

Trying to fix the problem during the French Revolution

A) The estates general
1. There was an unfair way of voting to fix the government
2. The 3rd estate creates the constitution
3. The 3rd estate wants to be the mojority
4. Louis XVI tries to stop the constitution
5. People all over France revolts

B) The Declaration of the rights of man & citizen is written
C) King Louis XVI gives in
D) There is a new constitution for France
E) King Louis XVI is beheaded so he is powerless

That is what I learned about in my world history class :)
